in this 6 hour, 2 day long english-language workshop you will create your own character designs and have them come to life on paper and on clay! charlie brown. totoro. the grinch. bart simpson: illustrated characters help us process emotions, understand the world around us, and make us laugh. in this course we will be inspired by character design throughout the ages, explore the magic of abstraction and will look into the ceramic tradition of visual storytelling to make our own piece of illustrated pottery! this course is for anyone who enjoys drawing (don’t be fooled into thinking you can’t draw!) and anyone who likes to work with clay (no experience necessary!). ages 16 and up. one of commonrooms experienced ceramic teachers will guide you through ceramic techniques such as sgraffito, underglazing, slab building and coil building and many more techniques to create plates, tiles or cups!
